The Video Booth App is a video-based survey tool that allows people to interview themselves. You design a series of questions, interface and let the front facing camera of the iPad work its magic. The Video Booth takes the interviewer out the equation. Expect answers to open-ended questions you never could have imagined! This app can be deployed as a participatory research tool, market research, or a fun way of gathering content at an event, party or wedding.

THE BACKSTORY
Back in 2009, we designed a video booth using a MacMini and coded software in MaxMSP. It was ahead of its time but finicky to setup. As filmmakers our aim was to take the interviewer out of the equation and let participants interview themselves. Playing with the line between private & public space, the booth captured answers of an openness and honesty that warmed our little storytelling hearts. So we built more booths – big and small, around the world – and collected stories from people from all over.

When iPads began using a HD front-facing camera we decided to spread the love and set it free in app form – the Video Booth App. You now have the tools to explore stories and create an accessible environment for expression.
